Welcome back Carefree boaters! As we begin to retire our heavy coats, and nature sheds its own wintry layer, your friends at your favorite Carefree Boat Club location are hard at work getting ready to welcome you back to the water. We’ve spent the colder months curating fresh experiences for our boaters to explore, and we are so excited to share them with you! The long-anticipated temperature is finally approaching, longer days are soon ahead, and contrary to the sleepy groundhog’s ruling, spring is in full swing, and there is no better time to take to the water. 

Crisp air, mountain landscapes dotted with new growth, and peaceful waterways all characterize the spring season on the horizon. The quintessential season of new beginnings, springtime is the perfect time to refresh your arsenal of nautical activities. Though many boaters wait until summer to kick off their lakeside adventures, we are ready to show you how to make the most of the season ahead-and there is a perfect springtime activity for every boater! Whether you prefer tranquility and quiet afternoons, or lively social gatherings on the shoreline, an outing on a Carefree Boat Club boat will accommodate your every whim. 

Embracing the beauty of nature is one of our favorite ways to welcome spring. Our very own South Holston lake is nationally recognized for its perfect view of the annual dogwood bloom, and to the fisherman, an optimal location for fishing the spring migration of white bass. Members love bearing witness to the idyllic landscapes that enclose our lakes, and the wildlife that inhabit them. In the springtime, Watauga Lake is home to a variety of migratory birds, including bay-breasted and blackpoll warblers. The back of a Carefree Boat is a prime location for birdwatching and nature photography, and our members love to tag us in their photos on social media for a chance to be featured!

If scenic shoreline rendezvous are more your speed, consider beaching a Carefree Boat Club pontoon boat at one of the many accessible campgrounds, parks, coves, and islands across the lakes. Mild temperatures and fresh air create the perfect opportunity to hang string lights, set up a portable grill, put on your favorite playlist, and make memories with those who matter most. While the water may still retain its winter chill, kids love to explore the wooded areas nestled behind the lakes’ coves, making spring boating suitable for any age. Sunset cruises offer a laid-back alternative to the lakeside party, a stunning backdrop and a tasty picnic to accompany good conversation and great company.
