Being a Carefree Boat Club member is a fantastic way to enjoy boating to the fullest. Having a fleet of boats at your disposal means you have numerous opportunities to enjoy the lake, through many different types of boating experiences. One area that newer members might find themselves asking questions about is the reservation system. While Carefree Boat Club has a tried and true boat to member ratio, ensuring that boats are available for everyone, you’ll still find times where it is hard to get a reservation. Below are some tips to help you make the most of the reservation system, and the most of your boat club membership!

The Early Bird Gets the Boat

You log in to reserve your favorite boat, only to find that it has been taken already! If it is Thursday, and the weekend forecast looks beautiful – you probably waited too long to make your reservation. Try to remember to reserve your boat a week or two in advance when possible. Most boaters enjoy spur-of-the-moment boating and won’t plan this early. By making your reservation toward the beginning of the week, or even the week prior – you stand a much greater chance of getting the time slot you want, as well as the boat you want.

Help, I Hit My Reservation Limit!

One other mistake new club members often make is making full day reservations. Most people don’t want morning reservations, so you are much better off making an afternoon reservation, and the morning of – calling the marina to see if the boat is out. Most likely, the boat will be sitting there, and you can go ahead and take it WITHOUT eating up another one of your reservation slots. Members are allowed to make 4 reservations at once, with 2 on the weekend. If you make an all-day reservation for a Saturday and find out you want to go ahead and make a reservation for Sunday as well – you are out of luck! Had you only reserved Saturday afternoon – you could probably have come in the morning anyway, and would still have an open slot for your Sunday reservation.
