Rockingham Marina Boone Lake
Rockingham Marina

Boone Lake, located on the South Fork Holston River in northeast Tennessee, has seven marinas to serve recreational boaters.  Swimming, fishing, water skiing and boating are popular pastimes on this TVA reservoir that extends from Sullivan County, TN into Washington County, VA.

The 7,580-acre lake has several boat launch ramps along its 183 miles of shoreline.

Boone Lake marinas include Rockingham Marina, Lakeview Marina, Jay’s Boat Dock, Sonny’s Marina, Boone Lake Marina, Davis Boat Dock and Hidden Cove Marina. These marinas offer boat docks and storage, fuel, restaurants and snack bars. Boone Lake marinas offer boat rentals, sales and repairs along with stores and shops selling fishing gear and water sports equipment.

Rockingham Marina is home to the Carefree Boat Club designed for people who want to enjoy boating without having to own a vessel.  Carefree, as its name suggest, takes the work out of boat ownership and maintenance.

Vessels

Members have access to sport boats, wake boards and pontoon boats that are ideal for cruising the lake.  Pontoon boats offer a day of relaxed cruising, looking for that perfect place to fish or anchor for lunch.  The pontoon boats give swimmers easy access to the water.

Sport boats are good for water skiing, wake boarding and fishing for bass, striper, catfish, and crappie.

If members are new to boating, Carefree Boat Club will train them in the operation of each vessel.  It’s mandatory for boat operators to know the rules of safe boating that include observing speed limits in certain areas, the right-of-way and how to work with wake boards and other water recreation equipment. Fortunately, the club offers exceptional on-the-water training by boating professionals at no extra charge.

Members learn how to navigate the lake and anchor. The club supplies life vest and other safety equipment along with insurance.

Storage and Maintenance

Carefree Boat Club stores the boats in and out of the water depending on the season.  Each boat is cleaned and all parts are checked before members take the boat out for a day on the lake.  This includes continual maintenance on motors.

This is an opportunity for members to experience day cruising with family and friends without the hassle of launching a boat from a trailer and then hauling it out of the water.

Members who are interested in boat ownership will find this is a way to experience different types of boats. Contact the Carefree Boat Club and learn more about having fun on Boone Lake.
