You can enjoy a day on South Holston Lake without investing in boat ownership!
If you don’t own a boat or are selling the boat you have, rentals or boat clubs are a great alternative for your next adventures out on the water. Many of the marinas on South Holston Lake have boats and other watercraft available for rentals.

Rentals are a great option for an occasional visit to the lake, but those costs can skyrocket quickly if you want to visit the lake on a regular basis. In that case a boat club might be the perfect fit for you and your family!
Save money on rentals with the Carefree Boat Club
The Carefree Boat Club has a fleet on every local lake and across the country; at South Holston the fleet is housed at Lake View Dock. The other lakes’ fleets are at Lakeshore Marina on Watauga Lake and Rockingham Marina on Boone Lake. Nationwide clubs have fleets in popular tourist destinations like Charleston, South Carolina and Miami, Florida.
Members of the Carefree Boat Club can use a boat on any lake as many times as they’d like just make a reservation beforehand, show up to the marina. Your boat will be clean, gassed up, and start your day on the water. As a bonus to members, all floats, wakeboards, and other towables are included free of charge! The only extra members need to pay for at Lake View Dock are the cottages.
If you’re new to boating and “testing the waters” (pun intended) before making a big investment in a boat, a rental is a great way to “get your feet wet” (pun intended). The options at South Holston Lake give you plenty of places to try it out and see if it’s for you. If so, we encourage you to look into the benefits of boat club membership versus buying a new or used boat!
