The summer boating season is here, which translates to plenty of wonderful days out on the water with friends and family. Obviously, when you spend the day on the boat, you’ll need some kind of sustenance and that doesn’t always mean you’re in the mood for snack-like foods or for cooking yourself.
Enjoying a great meal while making a day of it out on the water is often a great bonding experience and there are some nice spots in the area where you can dock and find some amazing food. Whether you’re boating on South Holston, Boone or Watauga Lakes, there are some good choices:
South Holston Lake
Our newest club location is at Lake View Dock, which is nestled in the hills of East Tennessee. The Wheelhouse Restaurant is a perfect choice if you’re hungry after a long day on the lake. A casual, walk-up place, it specializes in made-to-order breakfasts, custom made pizzas, hoagies and salads with fresh summer veggies.
Wheelhouse also serves a variety of cold draft beer, lemonade and fresh brewed teas. Added benefit: The General Store has plenty of snacks and food items, as well as ice.
Watauga Lake
One of the largest, cleanest lakes in the country, Watauga is also one of the most scenic in the region. And, if you’re hungry after a long day of boating, the Captain’s Table is a wonderful place to grab some tasty food. The restaurant features seafood, steak, chicken and daily specials, which could be crab cakes, seafood platters and fresh, fried oysters.
Another great perk? If you’re a Carefree Boat Club member you will receive 15 percent off of your meal at the Captain’s Table!
Boone Lake
Conveniently located between Johnson City and Kingsport, Rockingham Marina is a full service marina. While it doesn’t boast a full service restaurant, the marina’s store “The Rock” providers boaters with plenty of concession-type of food items that you can enjoy while taking a break from your day on the water.
