The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is putting on a free boating safety course for 2014 and it’s at Northeast State Community College. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to participate in a wonderful course on responsible boating.

The course covers operating a boat safely, getting under way, state legal requirements, water sports, and what to do in case of an emergency. It will be taught by certified members of the United States Power Squadron, and it’s required if you are a Tennessee resident born after January 1st 1989. Also this class is a certified pre-requisite for all of the NSBC on the water courses, including the close quarters boating course. Those who would like to take the associated test (NOTE: this is required if you were born after January 1st 1989) must purchase a $10.00 Type 600 boating safety exam pass from any TWRA certified hunting/fishing license vendor and bring it with you to the class. It lasts from 5:30PM to 8:00PM in Northeast State’s library building room L-106 on the following dates:
Tuesday April 29 and Thursday May 1
Tuesday May 13 and Thursday May 15
Tuesday June 10 and Thursday June 12
You do need to preregister for the class here, so sign up and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity right now.
