2016 Fireworks Tri-Cities - Watauga LakeAs our nation celebrates its 240th birthday, many of us will be gathering friends and family to mark the occasion. One of the coolest things about Independence Day is having everyone together, enjoying a spectacular fireworks show. And one of the best places to watch is from a lake.

Fortunately, for those who live in this area, there will be a number of fireworks’ celebrations and several at area lakes. And the neat thing about it is you’ll be able to enjoy all three, as each are on different nights.

At South Holston Lake, at Lake View Dock, the annual event will light up the sky on Friday, July 1. Activities are scheduled to begin at 8:30 and as soon as it’s dark, the fireworks show will begin.

At Watauga Lake, several marinas are hosting events throughout the holiday weekend.  Fireworks are scheduled on July 2 at Cove Ridge Marina at 9 p.m. and Mallard Cove Marina at 9:45 p.m. Fireworks at Lakeshore Marina will begin at sundown on July 4 following the 16th Annual Boat Parade that starts at Watauga Dam at 2 p.m.

Not to be outdone, Boone Lake Marina also has a big fireworks show on tap. They’ll be setting the night sky ablaze with a colorful fireworks display on Sunday, July 3. The show is scheduled to last from 9-10:30 p.m.

A friendly reminder to stay safe while celebrating on or near the water there will be lots of boaters on the water after dark enjoying the fireworks, so be aware of your surroundings.

Enjoy your time with family and friends Happy Independence Day!
