Boone Lake is one of the most popular lakes in the area due to its central location in Johnson City. The lake is a long, winding reservoir that extends into Piney Flats and the outer edge of Kingsport.
Despite ongoing TVA work that has left the lake lower than usual as of December 2017, there is still plenty of Boone Lake to enjoy. The TVA is actively working to repair the dam and estimates the lake may be back to its normal level as soon as 2020.

Boone Lake Marina is a full-service marina between Johnson City and Bristol with new and used boat sales, service, fuel pumps, a repair shop, and boat slips for rent. Their covered slips are available with or without lifts. Their service department offers mobile repairs if you don’t want to haul your boat to the lake for repairs. The Boonedocks restaurant is open seasonally and serves burgers, sandwiches, pizza and more with waterside outdoor dining.

While the ongoing TVA work at Boone Dam has temporarily left Sonny’s without available boat slips, the cafe and live music is still open to the public during the season. Boat slips will be available when the lake returns to normal levels.
